His career as a navigator and Chief Officer includes service on dry bulk carriers, cement carriers and AHTS. Afterwards, he moved to more challenging job opportunities such as Ship Surveyor, Marine Superintendent, Quality Manager, Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO).

He has been involved in several ship accident investigations including collisions, groundings, cargo fires, salvage operations and security incidents. 

Furthermore, he worked as a lecturer at John Moores University and at Business College of Athens (which collaborates with London Metropolitan University, UK). Currently, he is founder of Pelorus, Greece which is a leading research and education organization. 

His interest in the maritime industry motivated him to expand his knowledge by following higher education courses of study at institutions in the UK such as Cardiff and John Moores Universities. He obtained a PhD degree with regard to the issue of worldwide implementation of the IMO regulations.  

He is an author of several reputable research papers which in total have been cited 175 times. As a writer, his best-known work is “The Management of Maritime Regulations" (Routledge 2015) and Risk Analysis of Ship Operations (Pelorus, 2019).  Furthermore as a reviewer has contributed more than 20 research journals.


He is member of HELMEPA and Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.  Since 28th January 2020 is observer at International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers' Association (ICoCA).
